Confidant - Agtron Detail
Title:
Agtron Website
Client:
Agtron Enterprises
Client’s Business:
Agricultural Electronics
Rationale:

Problem:
Agtron had an existing website using an old version of Joomla which was not a good representation of their professionally-designed corporate identity, and did not support mobile devices. They also had a separate Russian website and a separate support website based on PHPBB. All the sites were on a host which they had found to be unsatisfactory.

Solution:
I combined their websites into a single upgraded Joomla site with a design that complemented their existing corporate identity and was compatible with mobile devices. All the data from their previous support forum was converted to the new forum software, and I set up Joomla to handle multiple languages. The content was used mostly as-is but rearranged so that the summary paragraph for each page could stand out in a more friendly way in the left column.

Result:
Since launching the upgraded site, both the Agtron employees and customers are pleased with the new system and are finding it to be user-friendly.

Confidant - ICR Commercial Detail
Title:
ICR Commercial Real Estate Website
Client:
ICR Commercial Real Estate
Client’s Business:
Commercial Real Estate
Rationale:

The Challenge:
ICR Commercial Real Estate had an aging Joomla website which needed an upgrade. It suffered from having too much clutter on the home page. It also needed a better property search feature, better navigation, and to have compatibility with mobile devices.

I worked with ICR to carefully reconsider how their content was organised and their message was communicated. They knew that they wanted their property search to be easily accessible from the home page. I also encouraged them to consider what made their company unique, and to use the home page as a marketing tool which communicated that point.

The Solution:
A completely new design for the site was done, ensuring that the graphics complemented their existing company promotional materials and logo. ICR was already aware that their main advantage over their competitors is that they have strict policies which prevent their agents from having conflicts of interest. I encouraged them to put that fact up front where it could educate people the best. I developed the “golf ball” banner for the home page to proclaim the message in a fun way.

Much attention was given to how the site layout adjusted to fit mobile devices. There was also a great deal of custom development given to the property search functions. Some site features which were intended only for agents were moved to restricted areas of the site in order to simplify navigation and increase security.

They have added other random home page banners since launching the site. I modified them to fit within the new design but they should not be considered part of this entry. The new site is serving them well.

BT - EquinePOWER Website Detail
Title:
EquinePOWER Website
Client:
O&T Farms
Client’s Business:
Agriculture
Rationale:
EquinePOWER is a healthy, all-natural supplemental energy feed for horses that is produced in Saskatchewan. The client had a strong local customer base and wanted to expand their reach internationally. The first step was a clean, responsive website that expressed the benefits and quality of their product, explained their unique production process and allowed their customers to purchase online. It was important to make the site responsive so customers could easily order more equinePOWER from their phone or tablet when it’s top of mind, which is usually while in the stable or barn.
The site needed to be laid out in a way that grabbed the user’s attention and then pulled them through the information. To achieve this, the main page starts with a strong image their target market can connect with and then directs them downward with a question. As users continue through the information, each section transitions into the next with another question. This allows users to read through the information like a story. If they prefer to skip to a specific section or to access the store to make a purchase, the navigation bar is always visible.
